State Colleges Vs. Private Colleges
I really never understood why there is such a discrepancy in whether someone attends a state school over a private school. I feel like your paying for the name when you decide to go to a private school, which looks better on your resume. I'm not going to sit here and bash private schools, I'm sure they have great education systems like state systems. I just do not understand why some of these private schools think they can get away with charging thousands and thousands of dollars for an education i can get for much much less. Last weekend, I went to Emerson College up in Boston, and I must say i was not impressed at all with the library system. The library was barely one floor, and they only had like 5 or 6 public computers. It just seemed wrong to me that a school that charges so much money, can't afford to have better facilities. I'm not going to drink the kool-aid for BSC and say our school is much better than there's, but I must say that our library blows Emerson's library away hands down.

Movies in 3-D!
I was just thinking how popular seeing movies in 3-D has become. I mean, it isn't exactly new technology, it's been out for a while now. But with movies such as Avatar, and disney movies appearing in 3-D, people have more reason to want to go to the movies than ever before. Maybe movie theater companies are trying to get audiences back into the theaters by offering more 3-D attractions. I like to watch 3-D movies, because it offers interaction with the movie for more intriguing viewing. Even though theaters charge more to see 3-D movies, I think it's worth it because it offers variety.

The media made Tiger into what he is today......
I'm not going to get into the Tiger Woods discussing too much, since everyone has their own opinion on this. I do want to say that I have heard alot of talk lately discussing that the media is responsible for making Tiger into this sort of of global icon. We have to acknowledge that this is true because the guy hasn't ever lived without being in the spotlight in his entire life. When he was four years old, he was on late night shows showing off his skills, being plunged into a media craze. I guess you could say that the media is his family in a sense. What I am trying to get at here is that i'm not at all surprised he has done this, because we all know what the old saying is, that noone is perfect. In hearing his apology speech the other day, I thought it was scripted and not at all from the heart. If he was really sincere about his apology, he wouldn't need a script to read off from, and writers to write it for him. He even tried to fake a cry, but couldn't even manage to do that. I guess it goes in saying, that all the money in the world can't buy you love and happiness, and Tiger certainly proves that. I know alot of people don't care about Woods and all his affairs, but I'm sure even those people were glued to their tv's friday afternoon, listening to him "try" and apologize to everyone. It's been interesting hearing everyone's opinion on the Tiger Woods scandal. It does make me sad though, not for Tiger, but the fact that someone that has worked so hard in life, and someone who has always tried to do the right thing throughout their life, just throws it all away with rebellious and selfish behavior. Yes, you will succeed doing the right thing in life, but you must be careful not to stray away from the path......

To be, or not to be.....a MAC
I have been thinking about whether I want my next computer to be a MAC or not, and weighing the positives and negatives. I know that they are growing rapidly in popularity, but I feel like the convenience of getting PC parts is easier than Apple, and this inhibits my decision. Moreover, I don't feel comfortable with how the cd rom is configured in a MAC. It simply slides into the computer, with no tray. What if the CD gets stuck in my computer, it just scares me that it won't pop back out. I mean i'm sure theres warranties on that stuff but i still don't feel comfortable. The whole format of the MAC is different also, because it runs off of a different operating system. I have no problem learning another system, but i would be hesistant to go into certain programs not knowing what i'm doing. I do like other certain programs on MAC that are applicable to my career, such as Final Cut Pro, which is a pretty sweet editing program i want to learn. I also like MAC's version of powerpoint called keynote, which in my mind is a better way to display presentations. Aesthetically speaking, a mac is also way more appealing than a regular PC. I think it all comes down to what I can afford, and I just can't afford converting to apple right now in my life. I hope eventually though, i'll be able to try the computer that's all the rage now in the world.

Fast food Advertisements and brainwashing thoughts
Me and my brother were having a discussion the other day about how Burger King, Mcdonalds, Wendy's ads work on television. He thinks that these companies shouldn't be allowed to air these commercials encouraging people to eat junk and food that causes obesity. I told him that they have a right to do it, because of freedom of press. It does make me wonder though, should these tv ads put disclaimers in that say that eating these foods in excess may cause health problems? I mean, cigarrettes already do it on the side of the box, but should these food commercials be treated the same way. I know people have choices on how to live life, but i do feel sometimes that these fast food commercials are trying to brainwash us into thinking that eating these foods is the right thing to do. Especially when they depict super models eating cheeseburgers, or other people in really good shape. I feel like these ads are lying to us about what is reality. It's sometimes very hard to ignore, but again, we ultimately make choices in life that are either good choices, or not so good. I still feel like it's wrong to do this. Take a look at this pic below and you see what i mean.

All these channels and there's nothing on!
I was just thinking about how sometimes, when i'm flipping through the channels, can't find anything on i'm interested in. With the hundreds of channels i have, you would think there would be something i would wanna watch? Turns out more often than not, there isn't much on tv that really excites me. I think it may be all the commercials. I think commercials fill up so much dead air space, it's ridiculous. I once taped a patriots game, without the commercials, and i must say that it only took about about an hour worth of tape. The game usually lasts 3 to 3 1/2 hours. So that's like 2 hours of just commercials. I just think there should be some kind of limit to how much commercial time there is given to certain programs, or even all programs for that matter. Any thoughts?

Going Retro Style!
After seeing the old pepsi labels come out recently, it made me wonder if this was a way to get more people to drink the product? I think for the most part it is, but i also think the company may just be celebrating its history on the drink market. I must say though, it is refreshing to see something different for a change to keep it fresh and interesting. What a label looks like on a drink does influence me on whether to purchase it or not, i have no idea why, but i'm guessing there is an attractiveness factor to the product. Whether "it's sexy" looking or not, influences me and im sure millions of other people who drink any kind of product. We see retro coming back in all forms these days. It is especially true in sports nowadays. Teams wear retro uniforms more often than ever before, as this is what i have observed over the last few years. From a marketing standpoint, i think retro anything is making a comeback because more revenue can be generated from it, thus more money to be made. In the end it all comes down to money with most things in life. Comments are welcome!

Ways of Advertising!

I find it interesting thinking about ways people advertise, whether it be products or companies, or even themselves. When i was interning at cramer productions, i received an email that was interesting to say the least. It was a collection of pictures showing the ways people display advertisements. I believe humor is a good way to advertise a product, because it will make the consumer want to relate to that product. I want to pose this question to other viewers. Why do you think it is important to be creative with advertisement? Is it something psychological that fascinates our curiosity with ads, and thus will make us more inclined to use the product? Or is it something deeper than that. Check out this website to see other creative ads, they are really neat! http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.wittysparks.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/15.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.wittysparks.com/2007/09/17/countless-creative-ads-at-one-place/&usg=__jlVDYeAycTdJV5xnzggOqJ7Z9uw=&h=375&w=500&sz=30&hl=en&start=13&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=LGWushASMAejwM:&tbnh=98&tbnw=130&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcreative%2Bads%26hl%3Den%26um%3D1
