Me and my brother were having a discussion the other day about how Burger King, Mcdonalds, Wendy's ads work on television. He thinks that these companies shouldn't be allowed to air these commercials encouraging people to eat junk and food that causes obesity. I told him that they have a right to do it, because of freedom of press. It does make me wonder though, should these tv ads put disclaimers in that say that eating these foods in excess may cause health problems? I mean, cigarrettes already do it on the side of the box, but should these food commercials be treated the same way. I know people have choices on how to live life, but i do feel sometimes that these fast food commercials are trying to brainwash us into thinking that eating these foods is the right thing to do. Especially when they depict super models eating cheeseburgers, or other people in really good shape. I feel like these ads are lying to us about what is reality. It's sometimes very hard to ignore, but again, we ultimately make choices in life that are either good choices, or not so good. I still feel like it's wrong to do this. Take a look at this pic below and you see what i mean.
